A MAZON (from the greek Ἀμαζών without breast) is inspired by Heinrich von Kleist’s “Penthesilea” in which the author opposes the radiant greek world to the primitive and anarchic instinct. It tries to translate a mythical narration in body movements. Gatta tells the mythical topicality of a present body, which is divided into the machine and organic, without any possibility of synthesis. A body in which the diversities of movement are the construction of a machine and its destruction, caused by organic’s insurgency. The unique body is in perpetual escape from its order; We witness tensions and struggles for possession of something you do not see and do not understand, and maybe there is not.

The place of the tale is angular container formed by a wall, in black apparently, both transparent and reflective, hanging down to the ground and two white screens that meet orthogonally on the floor. In the Louvre Lens museum designed by SANAA (Kazuyo Sejima & Ryue Nishizawa), transparency and reflection are the primordial characteristic of the entire architectural complex in which exhibits and visitors’ image reflected on the walls of aluminum, establishes a special relationship between the observer and the object. In the same way in A MAZON dancers seem to reflect and then dissolve as images dreamt in night and vanished the day. Everything is even more impressive thanks to the game of light designed by Marco Policastro. It is perfectly integrated with the choreographic language and reveals unexpected sections of space. Federica Italiano’s electronic sounds, Quiet Ensemble broken waves and visual interference, Giovanni Fontana’s sound poetry and artist Viola Pantano’s photography are perfectly combined with the dumb aggressiveness of covered faces, with the bizarre headgear, with the clothing-structures designed by Maria Cristina Castro.

A MAZON needs a viewer gear to get into a multilingual poetics where each language finds its legitimacy in the encounter with an other. It doesn’t happen because of its incompleteness, but because of that extreme rarefaction that allows us to get rid of any tinsel and get down to the not further divisible nucleus. In fact, if you wanted find a theme, a health coagulant that gives a perspective to the complex geometry of this representation, we could talk about forces in war, tensions in crossing and about an impossible possession, we could also talk about desire and guilt, tense muscles aimed to tragic illusions (dance of love and death).

… Strong images as a reflection of our times, where the boundaries blur in an androgynous beauty, in a youth associated with a not immediately MEMBERSHIP GENDER. The new model of Beauty has no defined aesthetic boundaries. Men imitating women, women with masculine appearances.
Amazing, provoking, breaking the mold. Hybrid creatures with ambivalent sexuality.

FUTURISTIC WOMEN who seams to live in other galaxies, enveloped in their space age armor or in clothing lush like a still distant nature. The concept of conflict is the protagonist. Contradiction is the vehicle that brings to no orientation. Images in contrast with the structures. Structures that may be an obstacle to the music that travels on different breath notes. Disorienting the audience should be the final result…
