9:56 A.M., July 31st, 1992, a young woman, 17 years old, an island, the KSC, a space shuttle, Atlantis – a man, a space – a father, an Event – sudden smoke, amazement in the eyes, deafening noise, the flames and the flight.

We wondered:
How can you train for such a moment?
How did the adult train/prepare himself to be one of the authors and how did the girl prepare herself to be a spectator of this event?
What questions were placed before, what thoughts they had throughout and what answers they gave after?
What can it be the condition of those who study, those who know, those who design and what the condition of those who finds himself living a so unique moment without any particular scientific training but with the imagination and the youthful desire to know?
Since these questions images, paths, and a boundary line between science and the wonder are born.
It cames the desire to explore the distances and the meeting points between a “laboratory” dance, made of time, material and space, reasoning and rigor, and an internal, organic and emotional dance. A dance that wants to be architecture and a dance that wants to be bloodstream.
We want to start from a simple movement: raising the head and looking up. And from this new perspective – from the little we know and a lot that we ignore- we want to see what new questions can arise and inhabit the mind and the body.
Who’s the man with the golden brain? From what needs does this image come? Does he come- from who knows where- to the aid of our reasoning or our imagination? Is he the enlightened? Is he the one who has the knowledge, who has the consciousness, who has the awareness?
Is he a hero of a comic book for kids? Or maybe the star of a 70s b-movie, a kind of self-effacing hero who, despite of his deep loneliness status, wants to save the cosmos and its inhabitants?

The man with the golden brain derives from a personal experience of choreographer Alessia Gatta. On July 31st, 1992, she was seventeen, and she spectated the launch of the space shuttle Atlantis, at the KSC (Cape Canaveral-USA).
The memory opens to questions which result in a body and musical score:
How can you prepare yourself to be the author of such a show?
What is the expectation of those who find themselves involved in such a unique moment without a particular scientific preparation, if not the youthful desire to know?
The boundary between science and wonder becomes a choreography that explores time, matter and space. Rigorous architecture and blood circulation. The choreographic weaving starts from the simple movement of raising the head to look up, and then develops around Marco Angelilli’s dramaturgy.
He based his work on Wisława Szymborska’s poems to provide dancers with a ground for gestural and vocal experimentation. The result is a dance that probes distances and meeting points between space and time, sounds and gestures, people and languages. The performance boasts the collaboration of different artistic personalities:
The light designer Daniele Davino takes care of a scenic setting that represent the rarefied and suspended dimension to which the choreographic score refers. The musical settings are entrusted to the band Mokadelic, well-known to the audience for the soundtrack of the Sky series “Gomorra”. For The man with the golden brain the band composed a sound fabric animated by post-rock, neo-psychedelic and ambient suggestions. In addition, the visual artist Viola Pantano created a series of photographic and installations works that will be part of a satellite exhibition project.
Finally, the vocation to the eclecticism of this last production of Ritmi Sotterranei is sealed by the presence of international dancers (France and South Korea).
